The
history of the mill and the millers house can be easily traced to the
time of Napoleon and the Revolution. The property as it stands was refurbished
and extended at the turn of the 17th century. The original inglenook kitchen fire was replaced by a wood burning cusiniere and piped water was installed. The front parlour was provided with a splendid pink marble fire grate and a toilet was built onto the rear of the house. The bedrooms on the west of the house had beautiful black marble fire grates built into the windowsills. The flues rising within the walls of the house to the side of the windows are a very rare feature. |

| After
200 years it was time for a little sprucing up.
Le Batiment France (a similar organisation to the national trust)
gave their permission for the renovation. |
We took off the roof and rebuilt it using traditional methods. The insides were also stripped and refurbished to give high quality and comfortable accommodation. Outside the lawns ond gardens have also been brought back into use. There is an organic kitchen garden which provides soft fruit and vegatables for the table. There are lawns with room for badminton or folding canopies as well as a barbeque and pizza oven. |
