Paragliding annecy france

Every time I go paragliding in Annecy France, I think how lucky we are to have such progressively challenging, consistently reliable, interesting and beautiful paragliding which is so accessible and just on the doorstep of our Bed and breakfast in the Alps. The paragliding flights shown by clicking Clients Flights are ones that I have done over the past few years living in the Annecy valley. This is just a selection of my local favorites with the emphasis on recreational pilots payng their first visit to Annecy France. There are bigger things to do when you are ready.

The following are all free :-

· A weather analysis and briefing each day.
· Advice on which launch sites to use and when to launch.
· Suggested tasks and routes for the day.
· Organisation of transport to launch and retrieves.

· Access to a PC for internet, GPS, photography, video and backups (CD, DVD and all memory cards).
· The biggest safest paraglider landing field in France and an excellent alternative at the end of the garden.
· The opportunity to hire a guide/coach for the day.

Good company

  • Annecy provides
  • Free helicopter search and rescue.
  • A happy chappy who will recover your glider from anywhere.
  • A local repaire shop approved by all canopy manufacturers.
  • Loads of paraglider shops with a huge range of stock to try.
  • The best medical facilities in Europe.

Beginner (All training is in English)

I was one of the first Instructors in the UK and before I headed out here I used to examine instructors. They are not all the same - Choose a good one.

I used to visit the schools - and the same goes - choose a good one.

The problem is HOW? My advice is go your national body (BHPA in the UK), find your local club/clubs, get to know them and seek their advice. I always advise people to learn to praglide where they intend to do most of their flying. Paragliding is not just about controlling your wing it's also about understanding the air you fly in. One of the most important things you will learn is - When not to fly!!

If you are one of those people with very limited time or move around a lot then learning here in Annecy is a very sound option. The schools here have been teaching paragliding longer than any school in the UK . Their instructors are more highly qualified. Their facilities and weathre enable you to advance quickly.

We can book you in for an air experience day / tandem flight if you want to experience the sport or we can book you in for a five day course.

Starter (EP)

If you have done a few short hops and low flights then why not continue your training with one of our local schools. This will give you additional experience (and fun) and a great hollidy.

With flight altitudes of 2500 ft you will have loads of time to learn all about your wing under radio instruction at times of the day and sites which will give you the best chance to develop your flying skills.

Improver (CP)

If you are a low airtime CP wanting to learn to thermal, generally extend your skills and begin XC flying then Annecy is the place for you.

You will need first rate information and advice as well as good company. Schools will scare the begessus out of you and insist that you part with stacks of cash for this but frankly it's all bol***s. The best way to progress after CP is to join a club, fly in a club environment and keep your hard earned cash for essentials like beer. Maison du Moulin is based on this principal. We know this area better than any school in the UK. We are an internationally renowned drop in center for the lost boys and abandoned women of paragliding. We work on a club basis but and no fee.

Whenever you turn up you will meet and blend with fellow enthusiasts; It may be an unconventional business model but as far as paragliding goes it knocks spots off the rest. Any measure you choose - height gain, time in the air, distance flown, flying days or safety - we are unbeatable.

Of course you don't have to come alone bring your mates (flying or otherwise). We are frequently booked up by groups who come back year after year.

Now these groups can keep the cost even lower by taking the self catering option.

Remember if you want private coaching it can be arranged.

BIG XC

There are loads of routes covering 'easy kilometers' in the region. Even given a cracking weather forecast it is still a problem choosing which launch to use and what time to take off. This is where our expertise pays off.

Many routes can be extended. This means they are out and return flights or tringles etc which can be extended on a second day. This way if the weather holds you can race on the second day pushing the turn points further out. Most big distances are done by doing this.

SIV

SIV can be done by the day and you can choose the exercises you wish to practice. SIV / Acro in Annecy is the best in the world. You will be trained by a chamîon who is current in all exercises. We book you in with FLYEO.

Ask around and check their reputation.

Probably the best plan would be to have a couple of days flying before the SIV to get used to the air. You can follow this up with a few days pure fun flying.

Vol Bivouac

This activity can jigsaw into your alpine flying holiday. They can be 2 day /1 night or 3 days / 2 nights duration and plan to cover the knowledge skills and techniques of bivouac flying.

  • Ideally you should freefly for a few days before starting, getting up to speed and becoming familiar with the Annecy region, the other pilots and your mentor.
  • Plan to use the best 3 days of your stay.
  • The region to fly and the route to be taken should be decided in light of the weather forecast.
  • Irwyn will help you with all aspects of the planning and if he has the time he'll come along and video the fun.
