GENERAL SYNOPSIS
Isobaric col 1025-1028 hpa over France between the russian high and a 1042 hpa cell west of Portugal. Extended flat low over Central Mediterranean, deepening the Ionian Sea today. Strong northeasterly stream north of the Alps, less over the massifs, linked to a polar air mass flowing southwards. Persistent bitter cold condition likely until Tuesday, then the Mediterranean low could drive cloudy and slightly milder spells from the east.
